Influence of B. pertussis on host survival following S-180 implantation.

چکیده
The lethality of Sarcoma 180 (S-180) for mice has been well documented. However, it was reported recently that definite protection following implantation resulted if the animals were previously infected with Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (11). This effect has been attributed to the enhancement of the activity of the reticuloendothelial system (R.E.S.) (1, ~) and the subsequent increase in natural resistance to infection which follows the administration of endotoxins, zymosan, products of the tubercle bacillus, etc. (4). This latter phenomenon has been observed also for BordetelIa pertussis (3). Since we have had the opportunity to investigate many aspects of the mechanism of B. pertussis action (9), the effectiveness of its vaccine and certain related agents in depressing S180 " takes" was studied.

Allelic variations between vaccine strains and circulating strains in pxtP of Bordetella pertussis in Iran
Introduction: Despite high level of vaccination against pertussis‚ whooping cough has re-emerged as a health threat, especially in infants. This could be related to expansion of Bordetella pertussis with novel alleles for virulence factors including the pertussis toxin promoter, ptxP3. Compared to ptxp1 strains‚ ptxp3 strains produce more pertussis toxin which results in immune supp...
متن کاملRegulation of pertussis toxin and lipopolysaccharide levels of Bordetella pertussis 134 in response to modulators
Whooping cough (pertussis) is a highly contagious disease of the human respiratory tract, which is caused by Bordetella pertussis. Reemerge of pertussis in some highly immunized populations and divergency in gene order among several B. pertussis strains promoted this research to study the change of pertussis toxin (PT) and lipopolysacharide levels in response to the different environments. Th...
متن کاملResident microbiota affect Bordetella pertussis infectious dose and host specificity.
Before contacting host tissues, invading pathogens directly or indirectly interact with host microbiota, but the effects of such interactions on the initial stages of infection are poorly understood. Bordetella pertussis is highly infectious among humans but requires large doses to colonize rodents, unlike a closely related zoonotic pathogen, Bordetella bronchiseptica, raising important questio...

Purpose: Determining the effect of progesterone on the embryo quality (total cell number and diameter of blastocyst), survival and implantation rates of mouse blastocyst with or without ovarian stimulation. Materials and Methods: Female 6-10 weeks old NMRI mice were divided into four groups as follows: (a) Non-stimulated pregnant mice as control (b) Non-stimulated pregnant mice with daily inje...
